Many years ago, I read this small paragraph from Oprah's personal page in her magazine, which was fairly new at the time. I edited a few words to make it more universal. So, it's not a direct quote. Even though its mainly about organizing and beautifying your space, I saw it as much more. I applied these words to my space but also my business, my relationships, my time. I hope it gives you goose-bumps like it did for me...
“As we begin to recognize ourselves for who we really are--- thinkers, leaders with limitless potential to transform not only ourselves but also the world around us---chaos in the car, at home, or at the office becomes the exception and excellence becomes the rule. When we speak, we’re the first to hear our words, to feel their impact. What we say and think manifests itself as the life we create, one choice at a time. And when we fill our lives with things that uplift us, we become a product of that environment. We want to give the world our best, and we want the best in return. Maintaining a gorgeous home or apartment is about respecting the very important person who lives in it…YOU.”
Ok, now... don't you get it! It It all starts with little choices made all day long. We create an environment for success. Every decision is filtered through the lense of excellence... at home. at work and with all aspects of your life.
Look at your circle of friends. Do they inspire you to grow and excel? Does your family lift you up or drag you down? Choose where you spend your time and attention. Is this hour on social media adding to my future plan? Is this text I am sending going to create peace and joy in your life or cause regret.
If this inspires you to act on your dreams, it is better than a new car, better than the HGTV giveaway house. Yes, because it is an invitation and an opportunity to have a great life, especially if you work for yourself. This little home staging business of mine has created close to a multi-million dollar business, in a fairly short time. It far exceeded my expectations. I took a leap of faith many years ago. Some one once told me that you will not become a millionaire working for someone else.
And this little Monarch butterfly was my inspiration, and the idea of Transformations. I was the caterpillar, in the cocoon, waiting for a sign but it didn't show up till I took a first step. The rest is history.
